This blog is for the Christine Lodge, #1 of the Danish Sisterhood of America in Negaunee, Michigan.
The organization was founded by Christine Hemmingsen in 1883 as a way to provide social and financial aid to fellow Danes who immigrated to America. Today, our lodge continues to support the heritage and culture of the Danish people.

Wienerbrød
Most people think that Danishes originate from Denmark. I won't argue, they make amazing pastries there, but the pastries are called wienerbrød in Denmark which means bread from Vienna.
